Ingredients
200 g prepared cake mix (or chiffon cake mix)
3 large eggs
50 ml milk (or according to your cake mix instructions)
40–50 g chopped walnuts (for topping)
Instructions
Step 1 – Prepare the Batter
Pour the cake mix into a large mixing bowl.
Add the eggs and milk.
Using an electric hand mixer, beat the mixture until smooth, light, and fluffy.
Step 2 – Prepare the Pan
Lightly grease a round air fryer-safe cake pan.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
Gently tap the pan on the countertop to release any large air bubbles.
Step 3 – Add the Topping
Evenly sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the surface of the batter.
Press them down gently so they adhere during baking.
Step 4 – Air Fry
Preheat the air fryer to 150°C (300°F).
Place the cake pan into the air fryer basket.
Bake for 25 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 5 – Cool
Remove the cake from the air fryer.
Allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 6 – Serve
Slice and enjoy with coffee, tea, or as a light dessert.
Chef's Tips
Do not overmix the batter once it becomes smooth.
Toasting the walnuts beforehand gives them a richer flavor.
Check the cake a few minutes early, as air fryer temperatures can vary.
