Ingredients
For the Dough
- 350 g (3 cups) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 egg
- 5 g (1 teaspoon) instant dry yeast
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons finely diced ham or sausage
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
- 180–220 ml (¾–1 cup) warm water
For Frying
- Vegetable oil
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, yeast, and baking powder.
Add the egg, diced ham, and green onions.
Gradually pour in the warm water and mix until a thick, sticky dough forms.
Step 2: Let the Dough Rise
Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Step 3: Shape the Doughnuts
Lightly oil your hands.
Take a small piece of dough and shape it into a ball.
Make a hole in the center to form a doughnut shape.
Repeat with the remaining dough.
Step 4: Fry the Doughnuts
Heat enough vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
Carefully place a few doughnuts into the hot oil.
Fry for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Step 5: Serve
Serve warm while the doughnuts are crispy on the outside and soft inside.
Tips
- Lightly oil your hands to prevent the dough from sticking.
- Fry only a few doughnuts at a time so they cook evenly.
- Keep the oil at a medium heat to avoid burning the outside before the inside is cooked.
- Enjoy fresh for the best flavor and texture.
